Health Metrics Network (WHO) spotlights Sierra Leone
The October issue of the HMN newsletter spotlights Sierra Leone and the nationwide DHIS implementation.
DHIS was also featured on the WHO main page, so the HMN people are doing great PR work for us!
A little soundbite from the newsletter:
“The DHIS is giving me valuable feedback,” said Dr. Samuel Smith, District Medical Officer for the Western Area, the largest, most populous district, which started using the new system in 2008, “Every month I put the charts and tables in front of the staff of more than eighty public health units in my district. The system helps us identify problems and solutions and set targets. We discuss the best and worst performing units, which creates a feeling of ownership and an incentive to be the first unit to improve data quality and, ultimately, health services.”
